The emergency calling alarm system can be extended to cover a much wider area of operation. The system also finds applications in such location as large stores where a hearing impaired person might be employed but needs to be easily contacted. In the store case, the hand held radio transmitter is replaced by a press button connected directly to a high powered radio transmitter which sends out the coded radio signal to the alarm unit.
In the more general case, included in the system is a low/high power radio signal translator where the low powered radio signal from the hand held transmitter is received by a receiver which in turn operates a higher powered transmitter.
Systems can be designed with ranges up to 8 kms.
